Houston Remodeling FAQ
Every renovation has project-specific details, but the same planning questions appear again and again: what should be selected first, which work depends on permits, how rooms should be sequenced and when custom materials need to be ordered. These answers provide a starting point before a property-specific consultation.
Planning and scope
The most accurate schedule and estimate come after the room, objectives and major selections are understood. Structural changes, specialty fabrication and long-lead fixtures can change both sequence and timing, which is why a generic promise is less useful than a project-specific plan.
- Define the problem before choosing finishes
- Confirm appliance and fixture dimensions early
- Coordinate cabinetry, counters and lighting
- Review permit and trade requirements by address
- Plan long-lead items before demolition
- Keep a written change process for scope decisions
Permits and qualified trades
City of Houston and Harris County requirements vary by address and project type. Structural work and certain plumbing, electrical or mechanical changes can require permits, plan review or inspections. Licensed or otherwise qualified specialty trades are coordinated when the law or project demands them.

Common questions about this project
Do you offer consultations?
Yes. Use the form, chat, phone or email to describe the project and coordinate the next step.
Do you provide design help?
Yes. Design support can include layout, finish direction, cabinetry, surfaces and lighting coordination depending on the project.
Do you handle permits?
Permit responsibility and process depend on the jurisdiction and scope. Required permits and inspections are identified during project planning.
Can I live in the house during remodeling?
Sometimes. Smaller or phased projects may allow continued occupancy, while extensive whole-home work can be more efficient and comfortable when larger areas are vacated.
Can I supply my own materials?
This can be discussed during scope planning. Owner-supplied items need confirmed specifications and delivery dates so they do not disrupt measurements or schedule.
